In a move aimed at simplifying civil documentation, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched an online system for birth and death registration in three districts of Punjab. The new service allows residents to complete the process entirely from home, reducing the need for multiple visits to local Union Councils.
This initiative is part of NADRA’s broader Digital Pakistan strategy, which seeks to modernize public services and make government procedures more accessible to citizens. By using the Pak ID mobile app, individuals can now submit registration requests anytime, avoiding the traditional paperwork and long queues.
Initially, the service is available in:
- Chakwal – covering 71 Union Councils
- Jhelum – covering 44 Union Councils
- Nankana Sahib – covering 65 Union Councils
NADRA officials have confirmed that this rollout will gradually expand across other regions of Pakistan. Once nationwide, the platform is expected to make official registration easier for millions, while also enhancing data accuracy and efficiency in government records.
Experts note that digital registration not only saves time but also helps prevent errors often associated with manual record-keeping. For families, it means faster access to important documents such as birth certificates, which are crucial for school enrollment, passports, and other legal matters.
