ASF Foils Drug Smuggling Bid at Faisalabad Airport, Rs60m ‘Ice’ Seized

A woman attempting to smuggle a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine—commonly known as “ice”—out of Pakistan was arrested at Faisalabad International Airport after security personnel uncovered the drugs hidden in honey jars.

Security officials said they recovered around 4 kilograms of liquid meth, with an estimated international street value exceeding Rs60 million. The passenger was scheduled to board a Dubai-bound flight when the contraband was detected.

Honey Jars Used as Cover

The Airports Security Force (ASF) confirmed that the discovery was made during a routine baggage screening. Officers grew suspicious of multiple sealed jars labeled as honey, which were later found to contain a liquid form of the drug.

Passenger Handed Over to ANF

Following the seizure, ASF personnel detained the suspect and transferred her, along with the narcotics, to the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for further investigation and prosecution. Authorities did not disclose her identity but said inquiries were underway to trace any larger smuggling network.

Pakistan’s Ongoing Battle Against Narcotics

Airport authorities stressed that security measures remain tight at all major airports to deter drug trafficking attempts. Pakistan has seen a rise in methamphetamine smuggling in recent years, with traffickers often using unconventional methods—such as food packaging and cosmetics containers—to evade detection.

This latest interception underscores ongoing efforts to curb the flow of narcotics through Pakistan’s airports, which serve as transit hubs for international drug syndicates.
