Meta AI Brings Real-Time Dubbing to Instagram and Facebook Reels

Meta is rolling out a new AI-powered tool aimed at helping creators reach audiences across the globe. Named Meta AI Translations, the feature automatically dubs Instagram and Facebook Reels, translating content and syncing it to the speaker’s lips in real-time.

This move reflects Meta’s push to make social media more accessible internationally, allowing creators to share content without worrying about language barriers.

English-to-Spanish Translations Are First on the Menu

At launch, the tool supports two-way translation between English and Spanish, with plans to expand to additional languages. Creators can preview AI-generated dubbing and make edits before posting, ensuring the final result feels natural and authentic rather than robotic.

To maintain transparency, Reels that use the feature will carry a “Meta AI translation” label. Meta is also adding multilingual analytics so creators can track engagement and performance across different audiences.

Who Can Use Meta AI Translations

To access the feature, users need a public Instagram account or at least 1,000 followers on Facebook. However, the service won’t be available in certain regions, including the EU, UK, South Korea, Brazil, Australia, Nigeria, Turkey, South Africa, and parts of the U.S. like Texas and Illinois.

This selective rollout raises questions about regulatory or copyright considerations in these regions, suggesting Meta is proceeding cautiously as it expands AI dubbing globally.
